Battle For The Alpha Quadrant

This set of 131 First Edition Dream Cards is based on an alternate universe in which the Pah Wraith released by Gul Dukat in "Tears of the Prophets" (DS9) does as he expects, allowing Dominion reinforcements to stream through the wormhole in addition to sealing off the Prophets from the Bajoran people.  What follows is a full season, 26 "episodes," that go on in that universe.  Note that, first and foremost, this is a dream card project, and thus not all of these "episodes" really have the depth of character or flow of events to make an effective tale, were they to be expanded beyond these brief overviews.

These cards were originally premiered on The STCCG Dream Cards Message Board.

0. Prologue

Before the series starts, the USS Gueneviere is damaged on her final test flight; the Mobile Shipyard is completed; Admiral Leyton is assassinated while in prison; the bridge officers of Sovereign-class ships finish their specialized training; and the USS White discovers that latent protomatter in the Mutara Nebula scatters sensors and polaron beams.

Surprise Assassination

Dilemma, [P/S]

With the Dominion threatening numerous fronts and any number of officials being potential assassination targets, no one expected the mysterious murder of the incarcerated Admiral Leyton.

Unless SECURITY, Law, and a personnel with CUNNING > 8 present, one personnel not here and not present with a bodyguard is killed (opponent's choice). Discard dilemma.

1. To Conquer a Thousand Worlds, pt. I

The Pah Wraith invading the Bajoran Wormhole allows the Jem'Hadar Fleet into the Alpha Quadrant. DS9 and Bajor fall; all senior Federation DS9 crew except Jadzia are fortunately aboard Defiant on maneuvers.  Dominion sweeps across the outlying worlds of the Federation, Klingons, and Romulans, then begins moving against their interiors.  Romulus falls to the Dominion.

To Conquer a Thousand Worlds

Objective

Seeds on White Deprivation (it may not leave play).  Seeded non-(Car) Headquarters match (Dom) instead of their normal affiliation unless HQ: Secure Homeworld has been completed there.  You may download Subjugate Planet or Post Garrison in place of a card draw.  At end of each turn, score 3 points for every solved Alpha Quadrant planet mission on which you have a Jem'Hadar (5 if a homeworld).

Uncommon

2. To Conquer a Thousand Worlds, pt. II

Qo'noS falls to the Dominion; Chancellor Gowron is offworld commanding his forces.  Starfleet recruits penal colonists from New Zealand and recommissions all mothballed ships; unfortunately, they aren't enough, and Earth falls to the invading Dominion forces.  Starfleet Academy cadets go underground.  Q visits Picard and tells him things aren't going as they're supposed to, but they'll have to play out until someone - he won't say who - makes a choice.

HQ: Emergency Reactivation

Event

In the face of losing Earth to the Dominion, Starfleet recommissioned all of its mothballed ships in the Sol system and recalled all retired and incarcerated officers to service.  It wasn't enough.

Opponent selects six personnel and/or ships from your discard pile.  You may report any or all of them to your homeworld.  Discard event.

4. Resist or Serve

21. View from the Gallows

The Dominion has surrounded the Mutara Nebula with a fleet of starships.  Knowing the Dominion will soon overcome the nebula's protomatter content, Picard, Gowron, and Sela call their captains and advisors to suggest a course of action.  Geordi notes that he and Leah have worked out the secret of the phased cloak, but it'll need a Romulan ship to work.  They install the experimental device aboard the Warbird Terix, which attempts to slip through the Dominion antiproton beams and cut supply lines.  The device, however, doesn't work to its fullest, and the Terix is destroyed.
