Hyperspace Corridors

Introduction

This is a list of the galactic trade routes of the Star Wars galaxy, along with their known intersections with planets and other trade routes.  The list is divided into several different parts.  The first is a listing of the "Big 5" trade routes shown on official maps of the galaxy to span many galactic regions; following this is a breakdown by galactic region, starting in the Deep Core and Core Worlds, and moving out to the Outer Rim.  Sectors and areas where a large number of trade routes are known to exist receive their own headings after the blanket heading of their region.  Lastly, trade routes whose regions are not stated (and cannot be deduced from available information) are listed.

Beneath each trade route is a short description, a list of sources for the route as a whole, and any notes.  Following this is a list of the planets/systems along that route in roughly their known order, and, in brackets, intersections with other trade routes.  If listed on the same line as a planet, the intersection is at that world; otherwise, no planet is currently known to mark the intersection.  Either way, sources follow each entry.  Questionable entries of any sort are marked, amazingly enough, by a question mark; information gleaned from reliable fan materials that I have not yet determined the primary reference for are listed with a question mark as source.

Many versions of the Official Map of the Star Wars Galaxy exist, presented in materials ranging from the endpapers of the many New Jedi Order novels to Star Wars Insider to Star Wars Gamer.  Occasionally, these maps conflict, especially with regard to whether a world is or is not on a given hyperspace corridor.  On the recommendation of Leland "Tasty Taste" Chee, the map from Star Wars Gamer #5 is used as my primary source for the official map; if another map conflicts with the Gamer map, the Gamer map will generally take precedent.

Unlike my Grand Admirals List, I don't personally own many of the sources listed on this page.  Thus, I have relied very heavily upon The Unofficial Star Wars Encyclopedia at TheForce.net and the maps at Nav-Computer.com for much of this information.  The bibliography notes which sources I have personally been able to review.

Hyperspace trade route connecting the major planets of Ado Sector. Illegal traffic along the Spine is serviced by StarForge Station, in the StarForge Nebula. (PP; location in the Mid Rim isn't certain, but is suggested by the fact that privateer Urias Xhaxin is noted as being a frequent thorn in the side of the Ado Sector government, a frequent patron of StarForge Station, and as operating mostly in the Mid Rim.)

Kessel Run

Infamous smuggling route passing near the Maw black hole cluster to the planet Kessel, allowing that planet's invaluable glitterstim spice to be smuggled past Imperial forces.  Normally, this narrow run is eighteen parsecs long, but enterprising smugglers often shorten this length by flying closer to the Maw; this requires both considerable astrogation skill and an above-average ship.  Another smuggling milestone, also called a Kessel Run, involves a light freighter making deliveries to around six larger ships plying Kessel trade lane before those ships leave the area, with success judged by the distance the pilot flies to get to them all.  Han Solo and the Milennium Falcon were able to make a Kessel Run in a record-breaking 11.5 parsecs. (SW, JASB, RESB, GORW)

Special Thanks:

As aforementioned, much of this information was gathered from secondary sources, namely The Unofficial Star Wars Encyclopedia at TheForce.net and the impeccable Nav-Computer.com.  I am indebted to their thoroughness for the creation of this page.  Additionally, Leland "Tasty Taste" Chee, Lucasfilm's "Keeper of the Holocron," has been invaluable in clarifying Lucasfilm's position on a number of discrepancies between the many works that make up the huge tapestry that is the Star Wars Galaxy.
